Sooo... about those.. raids?
  • BrahnnBrahnn March 2011
So are we gonna can it there and let whoever wants to keep raiding move somewhere nicer? I'm not sure what the go is but since Greg and Kur haven't been showing up we've been in the dumps. With such a tight group of people (in terms of numbers and how long we've played) is it worth pushing it anymore? Might be just better off to call it again for now? I'm still keen to raid if we're going to be pushing content but if we don't have the best set up, there isn't much point. How is everyone else feeling?
  • jaseonejaseone March 2011
I wants to raid... Probably one of the few left that does...
  • ElliotElliot March 2011
afk till firelands? Im same as brahnn i only wanna raid progression with optimal setups wru ppl
  • ZariusZarius March 2011
i'm kinda in the same boat, not too keen on raiding unless we're pushing content with a good setup. Pretty much don't even log onto WoW anymore, sorta over it atm...
  • MorfuinMorfuin March 2011
I'm pretty much always keen to raid, although I'm pretty much never keen to take alts and pugs and struggle through content we've already overcome because we're not running with an ideal set up.

So I'm probs done for now. Unless we have a decent team on the horizon. I might even transfer in a few weeks after a breather. Not sure yet.

Would have been good if everyone was more upfront about there intentions, or at least when there intentions changed.  Don't care that people are cbfing or being busy. But there a things we could do to accommodate all that. Plus, I feel bad I talked coop into going hard on the priest just to be left high and dry after like two weeks.. lol

Eh, doesn't matter! We're back to where we always tend to find ourselves. Inevitable cycle I suppose. I just, for some stupid reason, thought because we were a tighter group and we weren't hitting it that we wouldn't fizzle out this time.

  • ElliotElliot March 2011
This sucks -.- I don't wanna have to find another guild ....
  • MorfuinMorfuin March 2011
Yeah, I was just having a look around.. I really cbf finding someone else to raid for a shitton of reasons, but I actually don't want to quit raiding..

It's really fucking shit actually.. We have a very solid tank and healing line-up.. And some good deeps.. we just need some more deeps.. and like we're still ahead of the general curve on progression..

But we're not gonna find anyone on DS are we? blrrrrrrrrrrrG. brb raging...

  • ElliotElliot March 2011
Morts right our tank and heals is pro and thats the hardest thing to get just need to grab some good dps to fill the gaps
  • ElliotElliot March 2011

I have been thinking about this alot lately and I am totally burnt out from wow. I blame playing like 24/7 for the first month of the xpac. The reason i think im getting burnt out too quickly is because im really starting to get over this game. I dont wana say im going to quit because ive spent alot of time on it and not gona just throw it away right now. But i will definitely be taking a break till 4.1 at least.

  • JookyJooky March 2011
Ah the vicious cycle begins again. Good luck guys!

I'm not un-keen to raid, per se, but I think it's fair to say that I think hardmodes are a pretty lame form of content.

Normal-mode Cataclysm, imho, is the best balanced tier of raiding that Blizzard have ever produced. The difficulty ramped up smoothly, with several clearly divided steps of difficulty, and no bosses that were incorrectly tuned easier than earlier bosses. From Halfus and Magmaw to Nefarian was precisely eight weeks of raiding, every week upping the challenge and imho nothing until Nefarian shook our confidence.

Just great stuff. Even the bosses that I hated at first grew on me (like Chimaeron).

But hardmodes? Doing the same stuff all over again, only 6 - 240 times harder (based on kill counts on wowprogress)? With all the class stacking and shit that that entails? Look, I'm willing to give it a go, since the easier hardmodes probably aren't insurmountable (well, Halfus obviously wasn't). But I'm pretty sure that we have zero chance against fights that only a hundred or so guilds in the world have beaten, and I know for a fact that I personally do not have the teenage reflexes necessary to do even the middling hardmodes. Even the hardest normal modes are almost beyond me.

p.s. the other elephant in the room is that anyone who wants to transfer is going to leave behind a level 16 guild that they're revered or maybe even exalted with. :-(

We'd be lvl 18 if people played!
  • ElliotElliot March 2011
At this point if I'm not playing with you guys I most likely won't play at all
  • MorfuinMorfuin March 2011
I guess we've never been cut out for hardmodes as a team.  And I spose' if we to stop and think about that, it makes sense. Obviously for the most part we enjoy the raiding we do, we tend to learn encounters quite quickly by normal standards, but we're still pretty casual about it all..

We probably have some of the talent required to be a hardcore guild, but none of the interest in recruitment, class stacking, maintaining a loot system or temprement to wipe over and over again. Which is A-OK with me. I don't have any of those things either.

I guess what I'm looking for is casual style raiding with none of the badness of casual raiding and none of the headaches or expectations of hardcore raiding. Simple right? haha..  Practically impossible more like it.. Just a few nights of relatively easy fun each week.

But the problem with that is, In an MMO if you aren't achieving anything in game. It doesn't feel worth it. It being fun isn't enough.. It used to be. I played CS as a kid purely because shooting someone in the e-head was huge big fun. But with this? when we get to the point where their characters are setup the motivation to play casually or otherwise dies off.. Xandra, I think your probably a pretty good example of that. Obviously the lack of weapons was keeping you interested in raiding.. Got em. byebye motivation. I think the definition of "setup" is relative to what one thinks is achievable too. Subconscious reward vs effort matrix? Going to far with this? yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

anyway, I'd love if there was a reason to keep raiding after "finishing" the current content right up until  the new tier of content was released. So we could just go consistently... Hell, even all playing a second set of character and doing the progression all over again would work.. hahahah.

None of this really matters though. I'm just over analyzing because I have the time to write tons of this bullshit during downtime @ work. End of the day it's as simple as cbfing @ heroics and being done with the rest of the content. I'm sure we'll be back to it in 4.1 & 4.2..
  • ElliotElliot March 2011
well i would like to raid firelands and all raids after that
  • RekRek March 2011
I was hoping that we wouldnt fall apart so quickly also. It would've been nice and despite what others think, relatively easy to tackle most hardmodes (and of the hardmodes that were too hard we could always count on blizz to nerf the fuck out of them so that us mortals could get them done).

I can see where the lack of enthusiasm comes from and its mostly the game format (lack of goals) that has created the problem. Some people play for achieves, others for loot and every expansion the race to get them tends to wear off when people start to realise theyre chasing bait to get more bait. Those aren't really my motivation for playing anymore though, they're nice and all but this time I kinda wanted to just relax and kill things at our own pace and eventually get the epeen.
